Department PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY OF AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTS (TPPA) works in the current structure from academic year 1992-1993 at Agricultural University of the University of Agriculture Science and Veterinary Medicine and is accredited since 2001.

The generals objectives of Processing Technology of Agricultural Products (TPPA) specialization and Food Control and Expertise specialization are to prepare technologists engineers, food industry specialists, food safety and control specialist and teachers for food or agriculture profile High schools.
Also the specialists can perform in firms aimed at research in food industry, promotion of modern technologies, promotion of new ingredients, and equipment for food industry, in Veterinary Health Directions-Food Safety, in Public Health Directions, in Consumer Protection Offices or other similar structures.

The main objectives of specialization of Processing Technology of Agricultural Products are:
- knowledge of biochemical and microbiological aspects of raw materials from plant and animal origin and of semi-finished products;
- knowledge and understanding of technologies for raw materials of plant and animal origin processing , and their transformation into finished products;
- knowledge and deepen of transfer phenomenon and of operations that take place during the process;
- study of the main devices and machinery used in food industry;
- deepen of the main methods of raw materials and finished products conservation;
- understanding the examination of the organoleptic, physico-chemical microbiological characteristics of the finished products;
- understanding and application of laws on food quality and safety;
- study and understanding the notions of management and marketing in the food industry.
